The Goldendoodle Is A Real Dog
While these beautiful hybrids may not look it, they are after all, a real dog. Dee’s success in creating super intelligent, beautiful, loving Goldendoodles is a testament to the power of positive thinking. The day her first Goldendoodles bounced into her life, would be a day not easily forgotten. Who would imagine that mixing a Standard Poodle and a Golden Retriever together, 14 years ago, would turn out to be one of the best decisions ever made as a breeder?
These dogs stood out
Being nervous about whether the pups would find good homes, was one of Dee’s biggest concerns after her first litter of Goldendoodles was ready to leave their mother. Within days of placing an advertisement, 50 people were fighting over 7 gorgeous puppies. “I am absolutely overwhelmed”, said Dee. “It’s been a labor of love trying to create the perfect family pet. Goldendoodles are a wonderful breed and they have an equal balance of being a low shedding, loving dog that virtually anyone can enjoy as a family pet!”.
14 years later, the Goldendoodle hybrid has proven it is more than a designer dog! It is here to stay! Some breeders spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to campaign their doodles. For Dee Gerrish, of Goldendoodle World, it only takes a few buyers to strut their doodles’ stuff in public. “People are automatically drawn to these beautiful dogs. You can’t help but make a bee line toward a Goldendoodle, if you see them in public!”.
Dee’s persistance in creating the Goldendoodle in various ways, has paid off. Since 1999, Dee Gerrish has paved an impressive path for other breeders to follow. Dee says, “Our Goldendoodles may be different sizes and colors or sometimes have varying markings or eye color, but I have come to learn over all these years that there are only three coat types for the Goldendoodle dog. It doesn’t matter who the parent is…Poodle, Golden Retriever or Goldendoodle…there are still only three coat types. Curly. Shaggy. Smooth.”
Dee believes the Goldendoodle hybrid, as a whole, will have a wonderful future in the dog world. “In the beginning”, says Dee, “there were so many naysayers! The American Kennel Club was up in arms; The Golden Retriever Club was having a field day and definitely the dog forums were rampant with abusive postings and comments toward not just me as a breeder, but anyone who was mixing the Poodle and the Golden Retriever together.”
Dee says, “I am living proof that you can be successful if you have a good dog. You have to put money into what you enjoy the most. Some people spend money on cars. A boat. Clothes or shoes. I spend my money on dogs”.
Dee is a firm believer that you have to enjoy what you do, otherwise you can’t succeed. “I don’t think of myself as a breeder. I think of myself as a creator. If your going to create the ultimate dog, you have to have a goal in mind. My dogs are basically a work of art. Very much like an artist, you start with a blank canvas and you bring your vision to life. My goal was to create not only a very attractive dog, but a dog that is intelligent, interactive, healthy and who will have longevity. I am pretty sure it is safe to say, I’ve surpassed my own goals.”
Many people believe that a Goldendoodle is simply pairing a Poodle with a Golden Retriever. But Dee Gerrish says the Goldendoodle is entirely more than that. “Anyone can toss a male and a female dog together and the outcome is, the female will get pregant. A Goldendoodle is more than that.” Years of pedigree research and pairing only the finest specimen together is behind making your Goldendoodle stand out among the rest. “Some breeders believe you can only achieve the finest Goldendoodles by testing the breeding dogs to death. I completely disagree with that notion. How many veterinarians do you suppose became breeders and their doodles turned out to be not only unattractive dogs, but riddled with health problems down the road? I’m telling you, alot of them fell into that pitfall!”, says Dee.
The fact of the matter is, quite a few veterinarians who became Goldendoodle breeders did indeed produce dogs that eventually became dysplastic. It sort of makes you wonder how that happened since the vets themselves, had plenty of machinary and testing equipment to prevent such a thing from happening. “Hip dysplasia is a disease that canine laboratories have still not figured out why some dogs get it and some dogs don’t”, Dee says. “Our Goldendoodles have over 400 ofa good ancestors down through their lineage. That means our Goldendoodles have just as little of a chance of getting hip dysplasia as the goldendoodles who come from breeders who spend hundreds of dollars testing their breeding dogs.”
True, testing breeding dogs is only valid for the dog who was tested. These tests do not guarantee one hundred percent that the tested dog will not produce a dysplastic puppy and that is one of the traps many buyers fall for. People believe that if they buy a puppy only from a breeder who has paid hundreds of dollars in tests for their breeding dogs, that the puppy they purchase will never have any health issues. It’s a false sense of security and people buy into that as though testing provides them some sort of safety net. the OFA board themselves will tell anyone that such tests are only valid for up to one year and that the tests are only valid for the dog who was tested. Such tests have no bearing whatsoever on offspring or untested dogs. Even if a breeding dog was tested with great hips one year, perhaps the next year their hips have suddenly become poor. There are no guarantees in this life except for death and taxes, that you can absolutely, one hundred percent rely on.
A Goldendoodle is a real dog. Regardless of whether some people want to call them mutts, designer mutts, designer dogs or mixed breed dogs….the fact of the matter is, the Goldendoodle dog is here to stay. This dog can come from a Golden Retriever paired up with a Standard Poodle; two Goldendoodles paired together; a Golden Retriever paired with a Goldendoodle and a Goldendoodle paired with a Poodle. Either way, these dogs are real. Their popularity is surpassing that of the purebred Poodle and the purebred Golden Retriever, much to the American Kennel Club’s dismay.
Oh well! The Goldendoodle has a huge audience to cheer him or her on. If you meet a Goldendoodle, nine times out of ten, you’ll want one.

How do you breed Mollies and Sword Tails?
how do you breed mollies and sword tails help. how do i tack care of them also should i use a breeder net or trap.
They do the work as long as temperature and water quality are taken care of …. you just need 1 male to 2-3 females to keep the stress off them.
If planning on raising fry ,then a breeders net for the main tank for delivery and a separate tank equipped with sponge filter and heater required.
If you keep the sponge filter running in the main tank when not used, then it is always ready to be used in a fry tank without cycling (and is seeded with micro-organisms for frys first food).
Be careful what you wish for … it’s quite possible you will end of with constant stream of fry at different sizes,so more than one fry tank may be needed.
